Facebook has changed- again! A short while ago, it was announced that Facebook’s algorithms were changing. This time it was going to affect Pages, the function most used by businesses large and small. The aim is to make Facebook more sociable and to encourage interaction with people and causes. Which means promoting business pages will not be the same and will become harder, unless you pay of course.
What this actually means to those of us that use our Facebook business page to promote our products and services is that we are going to have to take a fresh look at how we do things and change tactics.
Business page owners need to focus on ENGAGEMENT. We now all need to get comments, and respond to those comments, build a community so the Facebook chiefs can see real connections happening. We need to reach out to our followers and get to know them.
This is not always the easiest of tasks, people just scroll through endless feeds of posts and videos from hundreds of people and don’t stop to comment. We have to give them something worth commenting on, something that will give them a reason to stop on our post.
So from now on we are all going to have to work a little harder to keep and gain new followers. And if we want people to share our content, it needs to be good content.
Think quality not quantity and slow and steady.
There are other factors you will need to take into account but these are all about our client persona. If you know your customer, their habits, if you post good content and you engage Facebook can still be a good platform to promote your business on successfully.
